Diane had the most beautiful treehouse in Taylor Camp–beachfront with a panoramic view of the ocean and the mouth of the Limahuli Stream. The house was roomy and sturdy, with doors, windows, roofing, and siding recycled from the worker housing villages of the Kilauea Sugar Plantation, shut down in 1971. Diane's boyfriend salvaged the beams and flooring from the Hanalei Bridge deck replacement.

I captured this image with a 4x5 view camera. The fine-grain negative makes a stunning large format print with astonishing detail, definition, and tonal quality. We used this image in the Taylor Camp film--making a long pullback on the guys sitting in front of the house passing a joint.
