“We were living on a beach with a beautiful stream running out into the pure, clean Pacific Ocean with this gorgeous mountain behind us. Taylor Camp was beyond beautiful – kind of like a dream place and when I first arrived the people seemed to be living these magical lives.  But after I was there for a few months, I began to see that, just like everything, all things cling to their opposite – paradise and the not so paradise, because there were people that were into heavy drugs and drinking, but they were kind of on the fringes.”

“Most of the Taylor Camp people felt very blessed to be there and really had happy hearts.  The two big lessons that I learned there; to always keep a happy heart and that thought effects matter. That's been a huge lesson in my life. What I also learned at Taylor Camp was how wonderful life could be and, for the first time, I experienced the spiritual world and that led me to Tibetan Buddhism.  It's more of a philosophy than a religion in a lot of ways because it’s scientific, you're not asked to take things on faith. The people at Taylor Camp were strong independent individuals.  It was almost miraculous that we could all live together, but I think that the logic of Buddhism, not based on faith or rote, is very attractive to people who think for themselves.”  – Fran Pearson
