Collection: Kauai Color
I made most of these pictures of Kauai's North Shore for a magazine assignment in 2022. As I witness the steady onslaught of tourism and luxury residences and the loss of a slower, quieter way of life, it seems more important than ever to document the beauty and meaning of these unique people and places. There's also hope: the next generation of lawa‘ia (subsistence fishermen) carries on the practices and wisdom of these reefs and coastlines, while community organizations restore ancient lo‘i kalo (taro patches), tended by young and old alike. There are also a series of aerial pictures of the spectacular Na Pali coast, taken in 2014 and a historic image of the Kīlauea Lighthouse from 1976.
Images printed on Hahnemuhle heavyweight (315 gsm) 100% archival cotton "Photo Rag Baryta," with archival inks and archival spray coating. When stored, handled, and displayed under archival conditions, the prints will last over 200-years before any deterioration begins.
